Remember: “When the night gets darker, the sun will come out.”
In June the Winter Solstice brings the longest night of the year. Soon afterward the days begin to grow longer: the Light is slowly returning to our Hemisphere.
The oak is the tree of cosmic wisdom, keeper of mysteries and portals enclosed in wise enigmas. Many covens use this time for introspection and the seeking of personal power.

CELEBRATING THE ESBAT
Prepare three white, red, or green candles, wine or grape juice, myrrh, cedar, or jasmine incense, green and red fruits, white meat, and a container for ashes. Decorate as you wish and open the circle. Write on paper everything you like least about yourself and your life. Light the cauldron and say:
In the flame of this fire, where everything is transformed, I will be reborn!
Read the list, say goodbye to what you no longer want, tear it into pieces, and throw it into the fire.
Ask the Goddess to take these things from you. When the flame goes out, remove the ashes without touching them and keep them in the container. Light the cauldron again and say:
My Mother Goddess, may the fire that sustains me on the path of power and evolution grow stronger tonight! I greet the Father God, reborn from the fire of your love. May I be reborn in the same way!
Give thanks for the return of the light and for having come this far. Envision silver light bringing peace and strength to everyone it touches. Eat the feast consecrated by the Gods, setting aside their portion on the altar for three hours or until the candles go out. It is done. Return the food to the earth and scatter the ashes.
