Barley Moon

1 min read 10 views

This moon is also known as the Storm Moon or the Harvest Moon. It brings the second harvest and is the last moon before autumn arrives in the Southern Hemisphere.
Observe what you have been reaping and consider whether to harvest or plant more, whether the fruits have been good enough, and what lies within. Reflect, organize yourself, and strengthen your bonds. The shadows begin to appear and the hidden things stir; speak with the Lady of the Night so she may teach you to walk through the hidden night.

RITUAL
You may modify this ritual or create your own. Witchcraft makes you free to follow your instincts.

Open the circle. Set aside bread or cake, preferably made with seeds, and beer or fruit juice. Use three candles, two yellow and one brown. Outdoors, dig a hole in the centre of the circle; indoors, a pot of earth will do. Place seeds in the earth as gratitude for the second harvest. Remember the food on your table, the coat that kept you warm, and the water that quenched your thirst, and give thanks. Work with an oracle or divination technique, observe the night sky, ask the Goddess for advice, or meditate. Put on music, eat, drink, and enjoy the peace. Leave the Gods' portion on the altar for three hours or until the candle burns out. It is done; then bury the food.
